Fiber Arts Collective

About Us

The Fiber Arts Collective is a space where fiber artists come together to collaborate, work, teach, and sell their work.

In July 2020, Tanya Bemis gathered together a group of fiber artists in Lithia Park to discuss the possibility of starting a Fiber Arts Collective in an available building in downtown Ashland, Oregon. Out of that meeting, in the middle of a pandemic, an amazing community resource was born. In a short time it has become a creative inspiration to fiber and textile artists throughout the area, offering a fabric store and an art gallery space for fiber artisans in its Ashland location. Once the pandemic is over, the Fiber Arts Collective will offer classes and resources for the community. Meanwhile it supports local social justice issues and encourages efforts to recycle and upcycle fiber resources.

Stay tuned for a great future!!

Tanya Bemis, Fiber Arts Collective Founder and owner of Cloth and Sundries Fabric Store.

The Collective includes an art gallery, a fabric store with constantly changing inventory, a makerspace with a dye room, sewing studio, working studios for upholstery and alteration services, and a resource library. Post-pandemic offerings will include classes, public presentations, artist meet-and-greets, and participation in First Friday Art Walk.

Some of the featured artisans in our Ashland art gallery are community members who lost jobs due to the pandemic or lost homes in the 2020 Almeda fire. One way to support local artisans as they rebuild their lives would be to visit our gallery and purchase their beautiful creations, which include one-of-a-kind garments, tote-bags, aprons, journals, cards, treasure boxes, wall hangings, table linens, home décor, and more.

At the Fiber Arts Collective, we are committed to both social justice and environmental care by participating in a renewable and regenerative economy based on environmentally friendly practices of upcycling, recycling, and circularity—practices which we encourage and promote in the artistic expression of all works displayed in our gallery. We honor the nobility of all people and welcome the gifts that diversity brings to any setting, so we invite artisans of all backgrounds into the Fiber Arts Collective.
