An Afternoon with Susan Brandeis - Online Event April 18, 2021
Hello Fiber Arts Collective Community,
There is a light at the end of the virus tunnel, but at this writing we are still in the high-risk category in Jackson County and must not meet in groups yet. So, we have arranged for another online offering, which we hope will be an inspiration to everyone who can participate.
In April, The Fiber Arts Collective will host a Zoom presentation by the brilliant textile artist and author Susan Brandeis. Susan is Distinguished Professor Emerita at North Carolina State University’s College of Design, and is a member of the University’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers. She holds an MS from Indiana University and an MFA from the University of Kansas. Her artwork has been pictured in leading publications in the field and has been exhibited throughout the United States and in Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Colombia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, at the Textile Museum in Washington, DC and in the 14th Biennial of Tapestry in Lausanne, Switzerland. She is represented in numerous private and public collections, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian. She has received three artist’s fellowships from the North Carolina Arts Council and is the author of The Intentional Thread: A Guide to Drawing, Gesture, and Color in Stitch (Schiffer, 2019).
